CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR IMAGING
Pioneering non-invasive imaging technologies to monitor cellular and molecular activities throughout a person's life, aiding in personalized medicine.

CELLULAR THERAPY MONITORING
Developing advanced translational tools to visualize and track the effectiveness of cell-based therapies, such as CAR-T cells, NK cells, and stem cells, in real-time. These tools enable precise monitoring and evaluation of therapeutic interventions, ensuring optimal outcomes in stem cell and immune cell treatments.
TRACKING GENETIC THERAPIES
Developing gene-based platforms for activatable expression systems that can be used to visualize the delivery efficiency and targeting of genetic therapies such as CRISPR Cas9/ Base Editors/ Prime Editors.

EARLY CANCER DETECTION
Developing new gene-based technologies to detect and treat cancer at early stages using advanced imaging and nanodelivery platforms.
Cellular and Molecular Imaging Group
As part of Robarts CMIG, Dr's John Ronald, Paula Foster and Timothy Scholl bring together expertise in molecular and cellular biology, engineering, physics, nanomedicine, and immunology to drive research forward. Our teams use reporter genes and molecular probes to visualize cells and molecules using magnetic particle imaging (MPI), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), bioluminescence imaging (BLI), and fluorescence microscopy.
